Galaxy Tab, the first tablet PC that leading handset vendor Samsung Electronics brought to the market with Google's Android operating system on board, is now available for purchase in Canada via Bell Mobility too.

The carrier has put the slate on sale via its stores, but it appears that not all location got the device, and that supply is tight, so those who would like to make a purchase would have to check with the local store before rushing to make a purchase.

Since it was released only in select stores, Bell made available a PDF file with all the locations that got the tablet PC, available for download via the carrier's website.

Bell has priced the tablet PC at $649.95 without a contract agreement. However, the carrier also put in place some tablet plans, such as a $20/month one with 500MB data, or a $35/month option, with 5GB of data.

“The Galaxy Tab, powered by Android 2.2, gives you the ideal balance between portability and performance. Enjoy all forms of multimedia, e-reading, email and social networking on a perfectly sized 7-inch display that fits in one hand,” Bell notes on its website.

The specifications list of this device also includes a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, or 16GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slit with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Moreover, the Galaxy Tab comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and dual cameras, including a 3-megapixel photo snapper with flash at the back and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling.

Running under Google's Android 2.2 operating system, the slate packs Samsung’s Music Hub, Reader Hub and Remote PVR, as well access to the Android Market, from where users can download and install various applications.

Undoubtedly, the Galaxy Tab seems to be one of the nicest Android devices that landed on shelves during the ongoing year, tough it remains to be seen how well it would perform on various countries around the world.

According to Samsung, it aims at selling over one million Galaxy Tab units before the end of the ongoing year, so keep an eye on this space to see whether it manages to do so or not.
