Recently renamed Galaxy Tab 10.1v to avoid confusion with the latest Galaxy Tab 10.1 launched at the 2011 CTIA Wireless, the tablet has just been confirmed for Vodafone Australia

Although no release date has been announced, the Honeycomb device is expected to be available in mid-April.

Officially unveiled at Mobile World Congress last month, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v is said to have a limited availability.

According to Samsung Australia, Vodafone would exclusively sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1v for three months, after which it will disappear from the Australian market when stocks run out.

However, this is understandable given the fact that later this year the Galaxy Tab 10.1v is expected to be replaced by the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablets.

We are excited to partner with Vodafone to launch this limited edition tablet as part of our expanding range of tablet devices,” said Tyler McGee, the vice president of telecommunications for Samsung Australia. “Samsung continually strives to deliver leading, first to market technologies and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v is no exception.”

The Galaxy Tab 10.1v will be the first tablet to run on the Honeycomb platform available in Australia.

It is equipped with a large 10.1-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and boasts an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as a secondary 2-megapixels front-facing camera.

The tablet is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and packs 16GB of internal memory.

Galaxy Tab 10.1v will be available for purchase for AU $729 (roughly $735)off-contract, with 6 GB of data that expires after three months included, or for AU $259 (about $261) plus $39 per month over 12 months, for which the customer gets 1.5 GB of data per month.
