Mobile phone carrier Sprint has just announced plans to add to its offering the Android 3.1 Honeycomb-based Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet PC starting with June 24th.

The 16GB Wi-Fi version of this device will be launched on that day, featuring a price tag of $499.99, and should be put on sale through Sprint Stores, Web sales Telesales and Sprint Business Sales.

The tablet PC comes to the market with a large 10.1-inch HD touchscreen (1,280x800) display that can deliver a great experience when viewing movies, playing games or video chatting.

“At just 0.34-inches, it is the world’s thinnest mobile tablet. It comes with Android 3.1 Honeycomb with Android Market providing access to more than 60,000 apps for Galaxy Tab 10.11 and an immersive, lightning-fast Web browsing experience,” the wireless carrier notes.

The tablet PC also comes with a rear-facing 3-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, flash and zoom, as well as with a 2-megapixel camera on the front for video chatting.

The tablet PC can deliver 720p video capture capabilities, along with Full HTML Web browser and support for Adobe Flash Player (10.3) and for various Google Mobile services, including Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, or Google Maps. The new device sports a 1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core application processor, complemented by 1GB of RAM, with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as with built-in GPS receiver.

“Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 expands Sprint’s tablet innovation, growing our lineup to five options,” said David Owens, Sprint vice president of product development.

“This gives Sprint customers a one-stop-shop for all of their tablet needs. Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a dynamic tablet, but it is even more amazing when paired with the Sprint 4G network through our Overdrive Pro 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot by Sierra Wireless or MiFi 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot by Novatel.”

The new tablet PC also comes with the TouchWiz UX from Samsung, as well as with the Samsung Media Hub, Readers Hub & Social Hub, and with support for sharing content between DLNA-enabled devices.
