Soon, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics will supposedly make official the next handset in its popular Galaxy S lineup, namely the Galaxy S5, and some more info on the device’s battery is now available.

Apparently, Samsung will opt for a 2900mAh unit with this device, while also planning on including rapid charging capabilities with it, ExtremeTech reports.

The battery is also said to be a new Li-ion model that would store up to 20 percent more energy when compared to previous models, which means that, while the battery size remains the same, it features increased capacity.

As PhoneArena notes, Galaxy S4 did arrive with a 2600mAh battery inside, which suggests that a 2900mAh one in Galaxy S5 would not be far-fetched. The battery is also said to come from Amprius, a Silicon Valley startup.
