South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung might experience delays with the release of Galaxy S5 on the market, as one of the factories contracted to manufacture PCBs (printed circuit boards) for the device was affected by a fire over the weekend.

The blaze is said to have caused a great deal of damage, with an estimated $1 billion (€720 million) in equipment and components being destroyed in the fire, info coming from AsiaNewsAgency unveils.

Apparently, the inferno started at around 7:00 AM on Sunday, with 287 firefighters and 80 vehicles deployed to the scene. Reportedly, they needed six hours to contain the fire.

The overall volume production of Galaxy S5 could be affected, although Samsung did not say that this might actually happen. However, the company did unveil that it was sourcing PCBs for the phone from various locations.

The high-end Android-based mobile phone is expected to become available for purchase worldwide on April 11, and the incident might influence Samsung’s capacity only by a small margin, as SamMobile notes.

Undoubtedly, Samsung will evaluate the impact this will have on Galaxy S5’s production during the next few weeks, which means that it might announce something on the matter soon. Keep an eye on this space for additional info on Galaxy S5’s arrival on the market.
