Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, said to launch as a premium flavor of the Galaxy S5 flagship, is now expected to land on shelves in South Korea as soon as next month.

The handset has been long rumored to have been slated for an official launch sometime in June, but no official confirmation on its arrival has been provided as of now.

However, a recent article on Naver claims that it will certainly land on the market in Samsung’s homeland in mid-June, and that it will be released on the networks of all three local wireless carriers, including SK Telecom, KT, and LGU+.

Moreover, Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to arrive with a price tag of around $880 (€640) attached to it, though an official confirmation on this has yet to be provided.

What remains to be seen is whether the new device will be released in other markets around the world as well and when exactly that might happen.

Until now, it appears that it has been confirmed only for South Korea, though enthusiasts all around the world are eagerly waiting for it to be officially unveiled for the international market.

As SamMobile notes, the phone was also said to be produced only in limited quantities, which would suggest that it might be launched in a smaller number of markets in the beginning, with South Korea supposedly being the first to receive it.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to land on the market with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

Moreover, the phone is said to feature either a Snapdragon 805 or an Exynos 5430 processor inside, and to have it paired with 3GB of RAM, for increased performance capabilities.

On the back, it should sport a 16-megapixel camera with 4K video recording capabilities, complemented by a 2MP front camera for video calling.

At the same time, the smartphone is expected to arrive in South Korea with support for LTE-A networks. It will run under the Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system right from the start, and it should also feature a metallic body, with a more premium construction, rumor has it.

All in all, the new device is set to hit shelves as a direct competitor for LG’s G3 smartphone, which is expected to become official on May 27 with similar capabilities, and which has already started to be teased online.
