Galaxy S5, the latest flagship Android-based handset from the South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung, is expected to receive a refresh on the company’s homeland market very soon, and some more info on the matter is now available.

Apparently, the company is planning on announcing the new handset in the country on July 19 and will make it official with a series of hardware updates when compared to the original device.

The info comes from yonhapnews.co.kr, though the translation from Korean might not be as accurate, and the phone could actually be announced on the 19th day of this month, as SammyHub suggests.

At the same time, we should note that a recent article on The Korea Times claims that the upcoming device version will be released with a Snapdragon 805 processor inside, and with support for LTE-Advanced networks.

The mobile phone is said to be able to deliver data transfer speeds of up to 225Mbps, which would make it a much faster handset when compared to the current variant, which cannot go above 150Mbps.

On top of that, the upcoming mobile phone is also said to hit the market with 3GB of RAM, which is 50 percent higher than what the original Galaxy S5 has to offer.

Unfortunately, no other changes are expected inside this phone, although some of the previous reports on it suggested that Samsung could pack it with a Quad HD touchscreen display.

The new Galaxy S5 version is expected to be announced only with a full HD screen, while the higher resolution device should be released as Galaxy F, rumor has it.

The Galaxy S5 LTE-A might be released via all three major wireless carriers in South Korea and will come with the same specs and capabilities as the original Galaxy S5 variant did, save for the aforementioned changes.

What’s interesting to note, however, is the fact that Samsung might not be the only vendor planning a new iteration of its latest flagship handset, as LG is also rumored to make a similar move.

According to the aforementioned news site, the smartphone vendor might announce an LTE-Advanced variant of the LG G3 smartphone later this summer, yet no further details on it have been provided.

However, the company was said a few times before to be planning the launch of a Snapdragon 805-enabled version of LG G3, one that would offer higher performance capabilities than the original.

Unfortunately, no confirmation on any of the above has been provided as of now, and we’ll take it with a grain of salt. However, it won’t be long before the Galaxy S5 LTE-A goes official, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
