Starting today, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone at Rogers Canada should be able to start downloading the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system upgrade on their smartphones, the latest news on the matter suggests.

According to the wireless carrier’s OS upgrade schedule, Galaxy S4 is slated to get a taste of the update as soon as today, March 13, though no further details on the matter have been provided.

As MobileSyrup notes, users should be receiving a notification on their devices as soon as the firmware is available, though it remains to be seen at what time the rollout actually kicks off.

It should also be noted that Rogers says on its website that release dates are subject to change, so we won’t be certain on the actual availability of the OS upgrade until it starts arriving on devices.

In addition to the Galaxy S4, handsets such as Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and HTC Desire 601 are also set to get a taste of KitKat before the end of this month, though they will see it only in late March, the carrier notes on its website.

For the time being, owners of Galaxy S4 should simply go to Settings > About Phone > Software updates to check on the availability of the new software. Hopefully, it won’t be long before its starts appearing.

Update: The Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform upgrade is said to be live now for Samsung Galaxy S4 in Canada. Both Rogers and Bell device models are receiving it, MobileSyrup reports.
