Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has started to deliver a new software update to the owners of Samsung Galaxy S4 mini smartphones on its network, providing them with all the enhancements and benefits that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has to offer.

Verizon has already published on its support website a document that details all the changes included in the new firmware upgrade.

The update is rolling out over-the-air and should be already popping up on users’ handsets, Android Police notes in a recent article. It is being rolled out as software version JDQ39.I435VRUAMK5.

“Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update that will improve the performance of your Samsung GALAXY S 4 mini and also enable support for the Samsung Galaxy Gear,” the wireless carrier notes in the sale document.

However, in addition to providing users with Galaxy Gear compatibility, the new software also resolves a variety of issues, delivers new versions of applications, and adds some more features to the smartphone.

According to Verizon, following the update, users will enjoy new apps and services such as MyInfoZone widget, VMWare, and Verizon Cloud.

They will also see that Voicemail Notification has an Urgent Priority notification now, and that the ‘Drive Mode’ is now ‘Hands-Free Mode’ in icon glossary.

Some of the issues that have been resolved in the new update include problems with the Exchange email server connectivity, along with Verizon 4G LTE connectivity.

Moreover, the Isis Mobile Wallet connectivity has been improved in the new release, the same as the Google Voice prompt timing.

One other change that was included in the new platform upgrade is related to the incoming call, which now displays Picture Me on the screen when using Call Waiting.

As mentioned above, owners of Samsung Galaxy S 4 mini on Verizon’s network should already see the update emerging on their smartphones. They can also manually check on its availability, in Settings > About phone > Software update.
