Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has announced new flavors of the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini smartphones, namely dual-mode LTE variants.

The new device models arrive on shelves with support for TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE standards, which should provide users with seamless LTE connectivity in most markets around the world.

These are the first commercially available smartphones to include the capability, showing Samsung’s determination to support LTE’s advancement on the market. However, as TNW notes, ZTE launched the dual-mode LTE Grand Era in Hong Kong last year.

“With today’s TDD/FDD LTE seamless handover devices announcement, Samsung again demonstrates the company’s commitment to driving better, more convenient customer experiences,” JK Shin, co-CEO and president of the IT and mobile division at Samsung, said.

“The first commercially available TDD/FDD seamless handover devices will allow customers to fully enjoy the benefits of fast mobile data communications no matter where they are.”

The specifications list of the two handsets remain unchanged from the originally announced models, it seems.

Galaxy S4 sports a 5-inch full HD Super AMOLED touchscreen, a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot.

Furthermore, the handset packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back with full HD video recording capabilities, as well as a front camera for making video calls.

The smartphone also arrives on shelves with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSPA+, and NFC connectivity, GPS receiver, and a 2600mAh battery inside. Furthermore, it runs under Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI loaded on top.

As for Galaxy S4 Mini, it was made official with a 4.3-inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) touchscreen display, a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 processor inside, 1.5GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory paired with a microSD memory card slot.

The handset also sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, a 1900mAh battery, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and the same connectivity capabilities as Galaxy S4.
