Samsung's Galaxy Camera was inspired by the design of a smartphone, to an extent, at least in regard to the touchscreen-based control systems, but no matter what anyone said, the item never qualified as a camera phone.

For the simple reason that the Galaxy Camera does not, in fact, support voice calls. It is simply a camera with a phone-like display and operating system.

It did work as a good stepping stone though. In fact, Samsung has put together the first real camera phone, according to Sammobile.

Called Galaxy S4 Zoom, it uses a 16-megapixel image sensor, which allows it to snap high-quality photos and record high-resolution videos at good FPS rates.

The launch will take place at some point in June or July, depending on how quick the company is.

Fortunately, the hardware is not as ambiguous as the ETA (estimated time of arrival).

In addition to the 16-megapixel sensor, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom has 8 GB of built-in storage, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi support (802.11 a/b/g/n) and a memory card slot (MicroSD) for up to 64 extra gigabytes.

The processor (dual core or quad core) and the amount of memory haven't been specified yet.

As for the software, Samsung decided on the Android Jelly Bean operating system, with the Touch Wiz Nature UX interface on top.

As for the display, it is a 4.3-inch qHD AAMOLED panel with touch support. Not as good as it could have been, but sufficient. For those that don't know, qHD stands for quarter-HD resolution: 960 x 540 pixels.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom will have a black or white case and bears the codename SM-C1010. Further details should be leaked, maybe even formally exposed, at launch or maybe a few weeks prior. We'll have to keep an eye out for any further murmurs.
