Samsung has started to make the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system available for Galaxy S III devices on the networks of more wireless carriers in the United States, including US Cellular.

In a post on its support website, the company has confirmed the availability of the upgrade, while also offering some details on what enhancements users will be receiving as part of it.

Furthermore, the handset vendor has posted there instructions on how customers can download and install the release on their smartphones.

Apparently, unlike the update for other Galaxy S III models out there, the release of US Cellular’s version of the device is available for download through desktop PCs.

Following the installation, uses will see software version JR003L.R530UVXUBMJA on their handsets when going to Settings > About phone.

“Samsung has released a new Android version for the U.S. Cellular Samsung Galaxy S III (SCH-R530), Jelly Bean 4.3 software version MJA. Please follow the instructions below to download and install Simple Upgrade tool using your Windows PC,” Samsung notes on its website.

As part of the update process, users should save all of their personal information to a microSD memory card, to ensure that no important files are lost in the process. Furthermore, Samsung notes that users might need to reinstall applications downloaded from the Google Play Store.

They should also make sure that the battery inside their phone is fully charged, and will have to connect the smartphone to a desktop PC or a laptop that runs under Windows 7, Vista, or XP.
