Samsung has yet to make an official announcement on its availability

We cannot deny the fact that Samsung is gearing up for the release of a successor for its Galaxy S II smartphone, one that might arrive on shelves as the Galaxy S III, although the formal announcement hasn’t been made as of yet.

However, we can doubt the pre-order availability of this yet unannounced device that MobileCity is advertising on its website.

They claim that users can now reserve a “Samsung GT-I9300 Galaxy S III (3G 850/1900MHz AT&T) Black Unlocked Import” for $799. Android Central says that this is a scam.

In all fairness, MobileCity notes that the mobile phone hasn’t been released yet and that it might take a while before it becomes available. However, you’d still need to enter your credit card details, and there’s no telling whether the handset will indeed be shipped to you or not.

We’ll take the possible pre-order availability of Galaxy S III with a grain of salt for the time being, and you should do so too. However, this doesn’t mean that it indeed is a scam. Maybe MobileCity knows more of Samsung’s plans than we know right now.
