Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics announced the upcoming availability of Galaxy S III in the United States.

The latest flagship Android device from the company will arrive in the country on the networks of five carriers, namely AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular.

The handset will provide users with access to fast 4G LTE and HSPA+ 42 data speeds and will feature a price tag of around $199.

Each of the aforementioned wireless operators will make its own decisions regarding Galaxy S III’s arrival, and each should announce specific info on the matter in the coming weeks.

"The U.S. launch of the Galaxy S III is the most anticipated launch of the year. As promised, we are delivering the 'next big thing' for U.S. customers and across all major carriers," said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Telecommunications America.

"Galaxy S III introduces new technological innovation and takes sharing to the next level."

The smartphone will arrive on shelves with a large 4.8-inch touchscreen display, a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, and with 2GB of RAM inside.

It will be released in 16GB and 32GB flavors, and it will sport two different colors, namely Marble White and Pebble Blue.

On the back, the new device will sport an 8-megapixel photo snapper with full HD video recording capabilities, complemented by a 1.9MP camera on the front, for making video calls.

Running under Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top, the new mobile phone will also provide users with great browsing capabilities, with access to applications available through the Google Play Store, and with support for various services.

Moreover, it will bring along great sharing capabilities, including the option to share to multiple devices via AllShare Play. It also sports AllShare Group Cast to enable collaboration on docs, presentations or images in real time.

Other similar features of the new device include Share Shot, enabling users to share photos with friends in their surroundings, along with S-Beam, which offers support for transferring large files, including videos and documents.

"The Galaxy S III is the most innovative smartphone on the market today. It is an industry first to see five major carriers align behind the launch of a single device virtually simultaneously," said Todd Pendleton, chief marketing officer for Samsung Telecommunications America.

"To support the immense excitement for the Galaxy S III we will execute our biggest marketing campaign ever. Consumers won't be able to miss why this device is the must-have smartphone."
