Giorgio Armani seems to have a knack for special edition phones and especially Samsung. The Italian designer has a long history of releasing Samsung branded handsets mainly targeted at fashionistas.

Samsung Galaxy S is the fourth addition to Armani's mobile phones portfolio, which also includes Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani, Samsung Armani P520 and Samsung M7500 Emporio Armani.

Also known as Samsung I9010 Giorgio Armani, the smartphone strongly resembles AT&T's Captivate, which is a carrier branded version of the Galaxy S.

Apparently the device has the same specs as the original, but it will come bundled with a few extra multimedia features.

There is little to no added value in terms of design or functionality coming from Armani, which might suggest that the device is well overpriced for what it has to offer.

Samsung I9010 Giorgio Armani is powered by the same ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor, but it's unclear if it will run on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform out-of-the-box or it will pack an older version of mobile operating system.

The smartphone features a 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution, Gorilla Glass display, TouchWiz 3.0 UI, multi-touch input method accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, touch-sensitive controls, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and Swype text input.

Other key features of the device include: HSDPA and HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n; DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP support, card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), 3.5 mm audio jack, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and video recording capabilities (720p), GPS with A-GPS support and Digital compass.

The phone will retail at around 700 EUR ($965) and will be available in Giorgio Armani boutiques and selected mobile retailers in Italy, France, the U.K., Germany, Dubai, China, Hong Kong, Spain, Russia and the Netherlands starting from December.
