Mobile phone carrier T-Mobile UK promised a few weeks ago that it would be able to deliver the Android 2.2 software update for its Samsung Galaxy S devices before the end of September, but things did not go as well as expected.

It seems that the company had to delay the release of this firmware update to October, just as other wireless carriers did, and the same as Samsung itself announced.

The announcement was made via the wireless carrier's support forums, the same way in which the initial info on Android 2.2 Froyo coming to Galaxy S in September emerged.

“We recently announced that there will be a software update for the Samsung Galaxy S at the end of the month, we are still looking to roll this out as soon as possible but have been told the release date may slip by up to a couple of weeks,” a T-Mobile employee announced via the aforementioned forums.

“Of course as soon as we have any more info we`ll let you know. The update will still be made available through the Samsung Kies PC application,” he continues.

Samsung Galaxy S, currently one of the hottest Android-based smartphones on the market, landed on shelves with Google's Android 2.1 platform on board in all markets where it was put on sale.

However, soon after Google pushed the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on the market, Samsung announced plans to deliver the update to its Galaxy S users in a few months, and the release date was settled for the end of the third quarter.

Obviously, the company had to push back the launch of Android 2.2 for Galaxy S, but T-Mobile UK remained truthful to the original announcement regarding the software's landing at the end of September.

Hopefully, they will be able to release the 2.2 update “in a couple of weeks,” and no later than the end of October, since that is the new deadline Samsung set for releasing the OS bump. Keep an eye on this space for more on this.
