Samsung Galaxy S 4, the flagship Android-based handset that went official in mid-March, has become the top-rated smartphone at Consumer Reports, leaving the LG Optimus G behind.

Packing a large 5-inch full HD touchscreen display and an eight-core processor inside (only a quad-core in most markets), the phone also sports a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, front camera for video calling, and all various exclusive features loaded on top of Android.

“The Samsung Galaxy S 4, one of the most advanced Android smart phones ever, is our new top-rated smart phone. The S4 delivered top-notch performance in the most critical areas of our tests, including the camera,” a post on consumerreports.org reads.

A new flavor of the device will become available in late June, namely the Galaxy S 4 Google Edition, featuring a stock Android experience.
