Following its release in Europe, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Samsung’s Galaxy Note handsets is now available for download in the company’s homeland country as well.

Owners of a Galaxy Note in South Korea can now grab the update through the Kies desktop software to take advantage of all the enhancements that Samsung packed it with.

Some of these include the Face Unlock feature, which uses face recognition capabilities to unlock the device, or Android Beam.

The Premium Suite for Galaxy Note also comes with Mobile Data Management features, along with better multitasking and improvements brought to usability.

Moreover, there is the new and enhanced user interface that Ice Cream Sandwich sports when compared to the older Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Galaxy Note users receive a range of other new features as part of the Premium Suite update, such as applications that can take full advantage of the S Pen that the device arrives on shelves with.

With an S Note app inside the smartphone, users will be able to easily take notes on its large 5.3-inch touchscreen. There is also the My Store application, which enables them to create digital cards with no effort.

Before proceeding with the update, users should perform a backup of all data on the mobile phone, so as to make sure that no important information is lost in the process.

Specific details on how to perform the upgrade, as well as info on its requirements, can be found on Samsung’s official support page.

There, Samsung lists three flavors of the mobile phone, depending on the carriers that have them up for sale, including SK Telecom, KT and LG U+.
