This clearly looks like a fake, but there’s no telling what’s to come

Samsung has already started pushing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to unlocked Galaxy S II devices and promised that carrier-bounded units will get it as well soon after.

However, the company stated that Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note would get the update in Q1 2012, and while Samsung was half true to its promise, we still don’t have any details regarding the ICS upgrade for the Galaxy Note.

According to the latest hearsay, Samsung postponed Android 4.0 for Galaxy Note for Q2 2012, but it’s unclear why the handset maker would do this, especially that it plans to launch the Galaxy S III around the same timeframe.

Until we get more clear info on the Galaxy Note ICS upgrade timetable, we can only speculate on what it will look like and when it will be coming.

So let the speculations begin! Samsung USA has just posted a pretty bad looking mockup of the Galaxy Note on its Facebook account. Apparently, the company is conducting a contest and offers users the chance to win a Galaxy Note smartphone. In order to win it you will need to match up five friends.

Anyway, this does not concern us. What’s interesting is the fact that the UI of the fake mockup strongly resemblance that of vanilla Android 4.0. That might mean that Galaxy Note will not come with TouchWiz UI in ICS, which is highly unlikely.

As anyone can see from the picture, only the bottom part shows exactly like Android 4.0’s stock version, while the notification bar and some of the icons from the upper part are exactly like those showing up in Gingerbread.

While this clearly looks like a fake, it will be interesting if this was intended in order to tip us off on what’s to come, or if it’s just a mad mockup made by Samsung’s PR.
