A new software release is now available for download for the owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone on the network of AT&T.

Available as a 165MB download, the new firmware doesn’t bring any new features or a new flavor of the Android platform to the device.

Recommended for all Galaxy Note II (i317) owners out there, the new release is said to include a series of updates for Google applications and AT&T preloaded apps.

“This update is being pushed to customers via firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) using Wi-Fi. This update is only available for devices that have been upgraded to Android 4.1.2,” AT&T explains.

Before proceeding with the update, users are recommended to back up their devices. Following the installation, they should see build number JZO54K.I317UCAMH3 and baseband version I317UCAMH3 on their smartphones.
