Now here is an interesting rumor. It looks like Chinese handset maker Huawei prepares a big surprise to Android fans. It’s about 6.1-inch and is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core processor.

The folks over at GSMInsider have just been tipped on the Huawei’s next Android flagship smartphone, which is allegedly known as Ascend Mate.

Huawei Ascend Mate will be a direct competitor to Samsung Galaxy Note II, and more. It is said that the smartphone will boast an incredible 6.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display, which will probably make Galaxy Note II’s 5.5-inch screen look very small.

Moreover, Ascend Mate’s screen will support full HD (1080p) resolution and will likely be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

By now you should be wondering whether this is a tablet or a phone. Well, it’s a matter of taste. The same question was on everyone’s lips when the first Galaxy Note got released on the market.

The fact that the smartphone is one of the most popular on the market it stands to reason that people are starting to look for bigger screens.

And if 6.1-inch is not enough to make you switch brands, Huawei is putting a powerful 1.8 GHz quad-core Hisilicom K3V3 processor inside Ascend Mate. The CPU is built by Huawei and will be complemented by 2GB of RAM.

Even though no details on the amount of storage have been leaked, GSMInsider’s tipster claims the Huawei Ascend Mate won’t be shipped with less than 32GB internal memory.

Given the fact the phone sports such a large display, Huawei decided to put a 4000 mAh Li-Ion battery inside, which should provide enough juice.

Furthermore, the Ascend Mate will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, integrated with Huawei’s Emotion 1.5 UI.

Last but not least, a Huawei exec also confirmed the Ascend Mate was currently in development and that more details on the device would be available soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this one.
