Earlier this week, wireless carrier AT&T officially confirmed plans to make the Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet PC available for purchase on its network in the coming weeks, yet it did not offer a specific release date for the device.

However, the company did say that the slate will be available exclusively on its network, and that it will provide users with support for its 4G LTE network, which currently covers more than 200 million people in the country.

“Demand for 4G LTE-connected tablets is growing, and we're offering our customers the most choice and the best portfolio. The Galaxy Note 8.0 is an awesome tablet and flies on 4G LTE,” said Chris Penrose, senior vice president – Emerging Devices, AT&T.

“We expect customers to be excited about the Galaxy Note 8.0's versatility that makes its useful for work and entertainment.”

The tablet PC will arrive on shelves with Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top, while featuring a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor inside, and 2GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the device’s 8.0-inch touchscreen can deliver an 800 x 1280 pixels resolution, while the included 4600 mAh battery should provide extended usage times.

The slate is capable of rendering videos at 1080p resolution, while also able to shoot them at 720p resolution, courtesy of the included 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. A 1.3MP front-facing camera can offer video calling capabilities.

The specification list of the device also includes 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

“Customers also receive 50GB of free storage with AT&T Locker (available via an update), so users can easily store their videos, pictures, and files and access form multiple devices,” the wireless carrier announced.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 also sports a series of software enhancements, such as Multi-Window, for multitasking purposes, apps that support the included S Pen functionality, WatchON, Samsung for Enterprise technology, and more.
