Galaxy Nexus, the latest Google phone out there and the first handset in the world to arrive on shelves with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS on board, packs a wide range of appealing features, including support for face unlocking.

Courtesy of a front-facing camera, the mobile phone can recognize user’s face and would unlock itself only if it matches the face it was set to recognize. Here’s what Google explains on the matter:

Galaxy Nexus introduces a new, fun way to unlock your phone— with a smile. State-of-the-art facial recognition technology lets you switch on your phone and look at it to get past the lock screen— no passwords to remember, nothing to type or swipe.

However, previous reports suggested that the system might be easily fooled by putting in place only a photo of the actual user.
