Next week, we should learn all the specific info on the release date, availability and pricing of Galaxy Nexus on the market in Australia, but a glimpse at what is to come is already available today.

Apparently, the smartphone should hit shelves in the country on December 20th, and will be released via various wireless carriers, though stock might be low right from the start, reports emerged.

A recent article on Ausdroid suggests that there will be a very limited number of Galaxy Nexus units available when the smartphone is released in the country.

The info reportedly comes from a Samsung source, which also mentioned that the stock would be split between Optus and Telstra.

However, the situation will be only temporary, and more units will become available for purchase in the New Year.

However, Galaxy Nexus is expected to be released in Australia on the airwaves of more wireless carriers, including Virgin Mobile and Vodafone, which means both increased options for users and smaller number of devices initially available at each of them.

However, more will be unveiled to the world no later than next week, when Samsung makes the device official in Australia.

Galaxy Nexus is the latest Google phone out there and the first smartphone in the world to arrive on shelves with the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system on board.

The handset comes with a large 4.65-inch touchscreen display on the front, and with a fast dual-core 1.2GHz application processor inside.

Moreover, it sports 16GB/32GB of internal memory, a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back with support for full HD video recording, and a front camera for video calling.

The handset also comes with HSPA+ connectivity on board, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, and with WiFi Hotspot capabilities.

Not to mention that it offers support for a wide range of services from Google, as well as for applications and games available for download via the Android Market.
