Australian mobile phone carrier Optus has just announced the pre-order availability of Galaxy Nexus from Samsung, after confirming not too long ago that it would carry the device on its airwaves.
Last week, the new
Google phone, the first handset in the world to arrive on shelves with the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system on board, went on pre-order at Vodafone in Australia, and it seems that Optus was keep on keeping up the pace.
The wireless carrier plans on having the new mobile phone available for purchase on December 15th, but pre-ordered units will ship to users several days later.
“Pre-order before 16 December and we will aim to deliver your phone on 20 December 2011 for Metro and on 21 or 22 December for Regional. While stocks last. Pre-order is exclusive to online customers only,” the carrier explains.
“If you order your phone online after 16 December, it will not be delivered until after 20 December 2011,” Optus continues.
On its Twitter account,
the wireless carrier also confirmed the fact that Galaxy Nexus would sport LTE connectivity when released, though the carrier does not make the mention on its website.
One way or the other, the new device will still make a lot of users happy, courtesy of the cutting-edge technology that Samsung and Google packed it with.
The Galaxy Nexus arrives on shelves with a large 4.65-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a 1.2GHz dual-core application processor, and 1GB of RAM.
The handset also sports 16GB of internal memory, along with a 5-megapixel photo snapper with HD video recording capabilities, front camera for video calling, and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities.
“Experience the simple layouts and subtle animations on the
Samsung Galaxy Nexus mobile phone. The design of the home screen, web browser, email, and everything in between have all been rethought and redesigned to make the Galaxy Nexus a simple, beautiful and beyond smart experience,” Optus notes.
“The design of the Galaxy Nexus features a rounded shape that fits perfectly within your palm. Hyper-skin backing on the battery cover improves the ergonomic feel of the device and makes the phone slip-resistant.”
