Soon after making the new LG Nexus 4 smartphone official, Google has removed the Galaxy Nexus by Samsung from its Google Play Store.

The new device comes with the same price tag that the older one featured, namely $349 for the 16GB model, but it is also being sold in an 8GB flavor, for only $299.

Galaxy Nexus was made official in October last year and went up for purchase in November. The year-old smartphone was recently updated to Android 4.1.2 and should get a taste of Android 4.2 as well in the near future.

However, the new Nexus 4 comes with far better hardware specifications than the older device, and the replacement does not come as a surprise.

While Nexus 4 will become available on November 13, Galaxy Nexus can still be purchased through carriers and third-party retailers.
