Following its 4G LTE network readiness announcement, U.S. Cellular plans to debut its first LTE-enabled smartphones. It looks like the first devices to go live will be the Galaxy Nexus LTE and the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The folks at Phandroid have been tipped by a source close to the matter who confirmed that some U.S. Cellular employees are already receiving training on several upcoming devices, including these two.

According to this source, both LTE devices are scheduled to arrive at U.S. Cellular in Q1 2012, which is line with the carrier's roll out of its 4G LTE services.

The carrier announced earlier this week that it will launch its 4G LTE networks in six states initially: Iowa, Wisconsin, Maine, North Carolina, Texas and Oklahoma.

U.S. Cellular's 4G LTE network will cover several major cities in these six states, including Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Davenport, Iowa; Milwaukee, Madison and Racine, Wis.; Portland and Bangor, Maine; and Greenville, N.C.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus is expected to make its debut in the United States on November 21 at Verizon Wireless, but other carriers may offer the smartphone within weeks after the initial launch.

The Galaxy Nexus is the first device to offer users Google's latest Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The phone is equipped with a 1.2 Ghz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor and packs 1 GB of RAM.

Although the phone does not include a microSD card slot for memory expansion, 16GB of storage should be enough for standard use.

The superphone comes with a huge 4.65-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, which features an oleophobic surface, but no Corning Gorilla Glass.

In addition, the Galaxy Nexus is delivered with dual cameras, a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Stay tuned for more updates on the subject, as U.S. Cellular unveils more details about its upcoming LTE devices.
