No known Apple patent included in the new smartphone

The latest addition to the Galaxy family, Samsung Galaxy Nexus is expected to arrive in stores in November, but Apple might secure temporary ban sales in various countries in case of any patent infringements.

However, customers who plan ahead their budgets for the upcoming availability of the Galaxy Nexus can rest assure that the smartphone does not include any known Apple patent, JK Shin, Samsung Electronics' CEO claims.

It is unclear if the Galaxy Nexus' delay had anything to do with some features that needed to be removed from Android 4.0, as (in)famous Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin suggests, or Google and Samsung decided it was not the right moment to launch new products given Steve Jobs' recent death.

Although patents can be difficult to spot, JK Shin is certain that both Samsung and Google managed to avoid using any features that might lead to temporary bans of their products.

Currently, Apple managed to obtain sales bans on the Galaxy Tab in Australia and Germany, which will certainly have a negative impact on the Korean company's profits.

Unfortunately, nothing is 100% certain, so JK Shin could not confirm that the Galaxy Nexus is entirely safe from Apple.

We will see if (the Galaxy Nexus) will be 100% free from Apple lawsuits,” Shin told reporters from Yonhap.

According to Shin, the patent war between Samsung and Apple is just beginning, so we should expect more legal action to be taken in the near future.

Even though Samsung suffered a few setbacks recently, the company is determined to respond in full force by filing for injunctions in France, Japan, Italy and Australia to block the sales of the iPhone 4S.

In addition, the Korean company decided to hire more legal staff to balance the fight against Apple and, according to Shin, plans to enlist the help of more lawyers in the near future.
