The first smartphone to bring the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to consumers, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus already made its debut in Canada via Bell and Virgin Mobile.

The smartphone can be purchased for as low as $159.99 (120 EUR) with a new three-year agreement or for $649.99 (500 EUR) off-contract.

However, most Android fans living in Canada are waiting for Rogers to launch its Galaxy Nexus variant. The carrier already included the smartphone in its Online Reservation System, but did not disclose any details regarding its exact release date.

Fortunately, the folks over at MobileSyrup have learned that Rogers and Fido plan to release the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on January 10, or around this timeframe.

According to an internal document leaked recently, Rogers stores will be receiving the Galaxy Nexus in stock within the next few days and will release it in about one week.

In the same news, Fido is expected to release the Motorola RAZR on January 10 as well. The launch date for the RAZR has already been confirmed by Motorola’s officials, so it will be interesting to see whether the carrier will be able to release the Galaxy Nexus at the same time.

Unfortunately, the leaked document does not reveal any details regarding the Galaxy Nexus pricing options at Rogers and Fido, but customers should expect around the same prices offered by Bell and Virgin Mobile.

Rogers Galaxy Nexus will probably be delivered with Android 4.0.1 on board, as the smartphone already received a maintenance update that fixes some bugs found after its release.

To recap, the Galaxy Nexus is powered by a dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz combined with 1GB of RAM. The phone packs 16GB onboard memory, but no microSD card slot for memory expansion.

There’s also a 5-megapixel rear camera with zero lag shutter function, autofocus and LED flash, as well as a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
