They are meant for the GSM flavor of the smartphone

Google has just announced the immediate availability of specific accessories for its Galaxy Nexus smartphone in the US directly through the Google Play Store.

The latest Google phone out there was made available for purchase in a wide range of markets around the world since its debut over half a year ago, but the accessories are being sold only to users in the United States.

The launch of these accessories was unveiled only a few weeks after the handset itself became available for purchase in the country through Google’s portal.

“Galaxy Nexus accessories are now available in the +Google Play store in the US. You can get a car dock for hands-free navigation, a media dock for streaming movies from your device to TV, and more,” the Internet giant announced via a Google+ post.

Galaxy Nexus owners interested in expanding the capabilities of their devices will be able to find a nice range of products through the new offer, including HDMI Portrait Desktop Dock, Desktop Dock with Pogo Pin, and car dock.

The pricing for these accessories was set at $49 (€40) for the HDMI dock and at $54 (€44) for the car dock and desktop dock.

Unfortunately, these accessories appear to be compatible only with the GSM/HSPA+ flavor of Galaxy Nexus. Sprint’s and Verizon’s LTE-capable models are left out of the deal.

However, it does not come too much as a surprise that Google chose to do things this way. The Galaxy Nexus device being sold through the Google Play Store (in the Devices section) is also a GSM model.

The smartphone is being sold unlocked, but it should offer compatibility with the networks of AT&T or T-Mobile. Users in the United States can grab it for only $399 (€322).
