In the past, we usually talked about USPTO (the US Patent and Trademark Office) as a source of Discord between various companies, since patents have caused a no small number of litigations up to now.

USPTO can act as a valuable source of information too, though, especially on products that have yet to make their debut.

One such product is that mysterious Samsung smartwatch that may or may not give Pebble a run for its money.

A leaked section of Samsung's latest trademark application with the USPTO implies that the brand the smartwatch will be marketed under will be Galaxy Gear.

The filing was made under international class 009, which is the category for wearable digital electronic devices.

The filing was made on July 29, and the product release should happen on September 4, during IFA 2013. We might even get to see it up close, since we'll be there, in Berlin, Germany.
