EMV Software, recently declared as "an official company," is prepping to release Warblade, this top-down arcade shooter, much like Space Invaders only with better graphics and more complex gameplay, which is now available as a beta demo for Mac. Warblade is a PC remake of the old Amiga game Deluxe Galaga. It has only recently been ported to Mac, as well.

"Warblade is a PC arcade game with focus on very good
playability," the developer says. The shoot'em up game revolves, as you'd expect, around nasty space creatures invading Earth. Your mission: kick their arses back to where they came from (or to non-existence) and save the human race from extinction.

As the developer himself claims, gameplay comes first in Warblade, since it is a remake of a game dating from the time when gameplay was everything and graphics were sufficiently tweaked up to give you an idea of what surface your character was standing on. "Fast arcade fun and lots of adrenaline pumping action," is how Warblade is described, and if you've had any experience with old arcade shooters, then you know it's not a lie.

"EMV Software is now an official company. It will be a one man company for now. And I will continue making games for PC and Mac. My first task is to make a Mac version of Warblade! Warblade v1.3. This updated version will use the PTK game development library and be available for the PC too," said Edgar, a while ago, confirming Warblade's upcoming availability for Mac computers.

Most recently, Edgar has noted: "I have now released Warblade v1.3 for both PC and Mac. The game now uses the great PTK game library and will now run under DirectX or OpenGL. Many bugs have been fixed and some new features added." The Mac version should run on older G3, G4 and Intel-based Macs, the developer claims.

Warblade will sell for $20 once the beta testing is complete. Here's a link to download more games developed by EMV Software.
