Gainward, a well known supplier of graphics card, especially among the overclockers, has announced that their new 8800 GTX and 8800 GTS cards are available
for mass release at the specified date. As a reminder, Nvidia officially launches G80 based cards today, but the success of the launch depends a lot on the ability of the integrators to correct the faulty resistors found in some 8800 GTX boards.
About this, Gainward officials said:
"Gainward proudly announces that due to close relationship and cooperation with Nvidia, Gainward engineers had been able to correct the error on the boards from the first allocation, meaning that Gainward started shipping out Bliss 8800GTX to launch partners before the official launch date".
Monday, the news was everywhere: a resistor with a wrong value caused the immediate restart of 8800 GTX cards. Some manufacturers like BFG claimed that their products were fine; others like eVGA or Gainward immediately moved all G80 cards back in the fabs in order to replace the resistor and solve the problem. As was previously pointed out, 8800 GTS cards do not have the same problem since they possess a different PCB.
Other sources confirm that, aside from Gainward, Asus and XFX products are also ready to hit the shelves. It's 3Dmark mania all over again.
