14 DAY TRIAL // Lenmar Enterprises is preparing to ship the world’s first true external portable power pack designed specifically for the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, offering customers the chance to gain an additional three-to-four hours of productivity on the go.
The Lenmar ChugPlug is a patented portable power pack and battery charger for MacBook Air and 13-inch versions of the MacBook Pro. It gives the former an additional four hours of battery life, while users of the latter get three extra hours of mileage, according to the product fact sheet.
Its creators say “The ChugPlug is the world's only true external portable power pack that is designed for the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro.” We don’t know if that’s true or not, but we figured they wouldn’t have the Audacity to make such a claim had it not been so.
The newest addition to the LENMAR Undead Power line of portable power devices, the ChugPlug is a proprietary-designed power pack, essentially a portable battery, designed by LENMAR in Southern California.
“With the ChugPlug in your laptop bag, you and your MacBook are primed to roam a world littered with dying MacBooks, their owners frantically scrambling for any outlet in a storm,” reads the marketing page of the product.
“Loved ones, co-workers, perfect strangers, all undone without an available power outlet. But not you! ChugPlug gives you the power to move; the power ti survive; the power to thrive. Congratulations! You’re UNDEAD!”
It nabbed a trio of awards at the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas, and other awards at other events. Safe to say it’s a winner. The ChugPlug is the same height and width of Apple's MagSafe power adapter. The design itself is complementary to the Apple devices it connects to.
"MacBook users told us they were desperate for a truly portable power solution for their Apple notebooks and we listened," said Marty Goldberg, president of Lenmar Enterprises.
"While the MacBook unibody styling looks great, it created power challenges for those who travel or work for extended periods of time away from power outlets. So, our team set out to design the first truly simple and intuitive solution to this challenge, which makes our introduction of the LENMAR ChugPlug very gratifying," Goldberg added.
Available immediately for pre-order, the ChugPlug sells for $159.99 (€116.78) and will become physically available in mid-April, or in roughly two weeks.
