Gabourey Sidibe is the hottest actress right now, her debut part in the critically acclaimed drama “Precious” being welcomed with impressive reviews and a nod for the industry’s most prestigious awards, the Academy Awards. With all this, the latest issue of Vanity Fair, the annual Young Hollywood number, did not even mention her name on the cover, in what some described as the clearest case of turning a cold shoulder on non-white outstanding representatives of cinema of the moment.

Speaking with the media about the Vanity Fair snub, Sidibe says she can be gracious about the entire controversy because she’s happy just to be mentioned, as InsideMovies can confirm. That is to say, while she would have been positively ecstatic to be included on the cover, even with a single mention of her name, she’s happy she was singled out in the inside pages of the mag. This comes on the heels of the controversy generated by the cover photo, which featured only white stars and which was branded blatantly racist by reports in the media, as we also informed you a short while back.

“At first I thought, ‘Hmm, should I be there?’ Then I very quickly got over it. I think if I were a part of that shoot I would have felt a little left out anyway. Was I satisfied? Yeah, well... I mean, I come from a world where I’m not on covers and I’m not in magazines at all. And so I was happy to be in the magazine,” Sidibe says, stressing that for her, being named in the magazine outweighs not being included in the photo for the cover.

“[It] doesn’t matter, because I wasn’t on it [the cover] and I’m excited to be mentioned anywhere, and it doesn’t matter to me where I’m not mentioned... I’m just grateful that I am there because so many people go through this – beautiful people, gorgeous people – don’t feel it, don’t feel as if they’re gorgeous and I think it’s really sad and I’m glad that I happen to be one of the people who does feel [it],” the star goes on to say.

The actresses that did make the cover of Vanity Fair the Young Hollywood number, meant to gather in the same photo only the most promising talents of the moment, are Kristen Stewart, Abbie Cornish, Mia Wasikowska, Carey Mulligan, Amanda Seyfried, Rebecca Hall, Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood and Anna Kendrick.
