The GTK+ 3.15.12 toolkit has been released recently as part of the GNOME 3.16 RC (Release Candidate) desktop environment and it introduces the last changes to be implemented in the final GTK+ 3.16.0 released, which will be distributed alongside GNOME 3.16, due for release on March 25, 2015.

According to the release notes, GTK+ 3.15.12 brings support for HiDPI (High Dots Per Inch) pointer cursors in the Wayland display server, improvements for accessible names in GtkMenuButton, and revamps the size allocation code in GtkEntry to change the semantics of the get_frame_size() function, but other GtkEntry subclasses need to be adjusted.

Furthermore, GTK+ 3.15.12 adds support for following state changes in GtkCellRendererPixbuf while ignoring the ::follow-state property in order to make Symbolic and HighContrast icons remain visible at all times.

Many bugs have been squashed and several translations updated

In addition to the above, many bugs have been removed in GTK+ 3.16 RC, such as a crash that occurred when the user double-clicked the close button while the popover was visible, insensitive backdrop ToolButtons will now be correctly drawn, and a pixman error won’t be generated when the Sound panel is opened.

Moreover, the sidebar icons will no longer appear black on black when using the HighContrast theme, some pixman warnings that appeared after recent changes have been suppressed, rubygems.org has been added as a source for the gemfile, and an insensitive color is now used for unfocused selected items.

Lastly, the Punjabi, Bosnian, Catalan, Swedish, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Danish, and Vietnamese language translations have been updated in this development version towards GTK+ 3.16. You can download GTK+ 3.15.12 directly from Softpedia, but please note that the software is still unstable, thus not recommended to be installed on production environments.
