The GTK+ GUI (Graphical User Interface) toolkit has been recently updated as part of the forthcoming GNOME 3.16 desktop environment, due for release in March 25, 2015. As expected, GTK+ 3.15.10 introduces a number of improvements, bugfixes, as well as updated translations.

According to the changelog, GTK+ 3.15.10 brings updates to the GtkFileChooser, GtkWindow, Printing, Wayland, and GL components. As such, the GdkGears example has been ported to the modern OpenGL library, Avahi-browsed printers are correctly handled, printer state is now correctly set, and window dragging on header bars has been improved.

As mentioned, this unstable release of GTK+ brings better support for the Wayland display server, including support for subsurface popovers in the Weston compositor, support for early full-screening and maximization, and improved compositor support. Furthermore, fts is now used with Tracker, search is no longer started prematurely, and Tracker queries have been made more similar to Nautilus (Files).

Numerous bugs have been fixed in GTK+ 3.15.10

The “NULL is passed to g_object_unref() in spi_…” critical message has been fixed, an overlay scrollbar fail has been addressed, some issues in gdkglcontext-win32 have been repaired, the Open button in the New File chooser dialog is no longer low/thin, and Avahi-discovered CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) printers now work correctly.

Moreover, some Back button issues have been addressed, the eventcontroller will no longer crash if the widget is killed first, g_error() is no longer used on connection errors, the initial setup window can now be maximized on Wayland, some issues with the UC-Logic WA60 tablet have been fixed, and modifications to folder name will no longer be displayed when creating a new folder.

Last but not least, several translations have been updated in this unstable release of GTK+, including Spanish, French, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Greek, Lithuanian, Hebrew, Slovak, Vietnamese, Kazakh, and Afrikaans. You can download GTK+ 3.15.10 right now from Softpedia, but keep in mind that it is an unstable software that shouldn’t be installed on production machines.
