GTK+ has reached a new version this morning for Windows users so, in case you’re using this multi-platform toolkit to create apps, make sure you’re running the latest build.

GTK+ 3.6.4 comes with updates for the built-in utilities and support for the newest Windows versions, but it’s not yet clear whether it runs fine on Windows 8.1 or not.

“The current GTK+ stack uses APIs that are available only on Windows 2000 or later. Long obsolete versions of GTK+ did run on Win9x and NT 4, too,” the developing team explained.

GTK+ continues to be offered with an LPGL license, which means that it comes free of charge, and it is still being used as the foundation of several top applications, including the popular GIMP photo editor.
