Strauss Zelnick, the chief executive officer of publisher Take Two, says that Grand Theft Auto V is designed to redefine the open world genre with its three main characters.

The executive says, during the Cowen Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, that many other titles will use the three-protagonist concept in the future.

He states, according to Gamespot, that, "We think Grand Theft Auto 5 is going to redefine what an open-world game is and will be."

Zelnick adds, "for the first time, you’re going to be able to have three protagonists and that will actually drive the story forward."

GTA V is an ambitious game, but it's not clear whether Rockstar will manage to make gamers connect to all three main characters.

The new game will be out on September 17 on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox 360.
