The development team at Rockstar working on Grand Theft Auto V Online announces that it will be launching a new double experience weekend starting on August 1, in order to allow players to level up their character faster and to get access to more content.

The official site of the title explains that "Beginning tomorrow, August 1st and running all weekend long through midnight eastern on Sunday August 3rd, get 2X RP in GTA Online. All Jobs and other RP-gaining activities like Gang Attacks, Hold Ups, and Import/Export to name a few, will earn you double RP."

Rockstar adds, "This will also be your last chance to pick up the limited-time Independence Day Special content, like the Liberator monster truck, Sovereign motorcycle, Musket and assorted patriotic apparel - so make sure to grab these items by Sunday."

Rockstar has been delivering constant double experience weekends for GTA Online in order to keep long-term fans satisfied and to attract players who might not have been interested in the mode before.

The studio has not yet offered any information on the Heist update for the game, which was supposed to be launched earlier in the year and has been delayed a couple of times so that the core mechanics could be improved.

Recent rumors are also suggesting that GTA Online will soon get an official update that focuses on casinos and allows players to enter gambling locations and risk their hard-earned money in a variety of games.

Rockstar will probably also soon approve a new batch of community-made missions in order to make sure that those who have played GTA Online since launch have some new events to engage in.

The game mode takes the open world structure of the single-player game and allows players to interact in a variety of ways and to amass both money and reputation, which can be then used to acquire properties, cars and items.

Rockstar is also working at the moment on an enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto V, which will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony, and which is set to deliver improved textures, better draw distances and denser traffic and pedestrian activity.

Fans of the single-player elements of the game are also speculating that an official announcement about the first expansion for the title will be made before the end of the year.
