Followed by Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and FIFA 15

Grand Theft Auto V, the open world title from Rockstar and Take Two, is the leader of the United Kingdom video game sales chart for the first full week of 2015, delivering an impressive performance just as the two companies are getting ready to launch the PC version of the title on January 27.

Assurances have been offered that gamers will not have to deal with a delay and the new launch is designed to offer improved textures and graphics and might also enable the community to create complex mods that take advantage of the core mechanics of the title.

GTA V has gained one position in the chart for the week ending on January 10, according to data from UKIE, and that means Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the first-person shooter from Sledgehammer Games and Activision, is now in second spot.

That situation will probably change when the title gets access to Havoc, the first major downloadable content pack, which arrives on January 27, loaded with four new maps and the much expected Exo Zombies game mode.

The last position on the podium of the UK chart is occupied, once again, by the FIFA 15 football sim from EA Sports, which continues to be a solid seller because of the dedication of the fan base.

Later today, the game might get a boost once the developers reveal the Team of the Year package for the Ultimate Team mode.

The best of the rest

There’s limited movement in the rest of the United Kingdom chart, with Far Cry 4 yet again occupying fourth place, the best of the Ubisoft titles that was launched during the fall of last year.

The Crew, the open world racing game from the same company, has managed to gain one position to reach fifth and is followed by Assassin’s Creed: Unity, which has lost one position even as gamers are waiting for the January 13 launch of the free Dead Kings DLC.

The two versions of Minecraft from Mojang are at the moment in seventh and eighth places and they are followed by Destiny, the social shooter from Bungie, which has dropped two positions of its own.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, which is currently leading the Game Developers Choice Awards nominations, closes down the United Kingdom top ten.
