The official announcement of Grand Theft Auto V has not put a dent into the high hopes that the leadership at publisher THQ has for its own upcoming Saints Row: The Third.

Speaking to investors during a conference call after the release of financial results Brian Farrell, who is the president of THQ, said, “It's a very different game.”

The company leader says that the brief trailer that Rockstar released for Grand Theft Auto V shows that the new game will focus on depth and realism where Saints Row: The Third, which also got a new trailer, will focus on crazy activity.

Farrell added, “It's a totally different positioning to the consumer”, and insisted that a lot of players will play both the series for the varied experiences they deliver.

When it comes to sales of Saints Row: The Third THQ is not saying how many copies it is expecting to sell but the company president added that the plan is to move more than the 3 million units that Saints Row 2 managed to get to gamers during its first fiscal year.

The THQ executive added, “We've been doing this a long time, we think we have a very solid plan around the title. And it's very difficult to answer the question: How high can it go?”

THQ has officially announced that pre-orders are higher than for Saints Row 2, despite the fact that the new game is launching for one less platform.

The new game puts more of an emphasis on total freedom and on crazy activities but it will also have a traditional plot centered around band warfare in a new town.

Saints Row: The Third will be launched on November 15 in the United States and three days later in Europe and will be offered on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
