The development team at Rockstar announces that it will introduce a new feature called Crew Hierarchies to Grand Theft Auto V and its Online component via the Social Club in order to allow the various groups of players to organize themselves into a more efficient fighting force.

The team states on the official site, “The Hierarchies feature allows the Leader of the Crew to assign special ranks to members, designating the responsibilities of Crew management and assuring that loyalty and performance are rewarded appropriately.”

The included ranks are:

Commissioner – the second in command for the Crew, focused on advice giving and on leading important operations, they can promote members and invite outsiders;

Lieutenant – they are able to promote and demote those who work under them and are important for overall structure;

Representative – they can aid in the recruitment effort for the Crew after proving themselves in battle for the organization;

Muscle - the basic member of a Crew who needs to perform well in a variety of tasks in order to be selected for promotion or can try and just gun his way to the top.

Rockstar adds, “There is no limit on how many Crew members you can designate to any one tier - so decide whether your squad will be a communal and anarchic free-for-all or a rigidly structured and exclusive Hierarchy designed to reward the chosen few and keep the Muscle thirsty for recognition?”

Those who lead a Crew will have an extensive series of management options on their Management page on the Rockstar Social Club service.

Most of the new feature has been inspired by direct feedback from the fan community, and Rockstar is encouraging players to talk about the game and their experiences.

GTA V will be out on September 17 and the Online mode will be added two weeks later.
