Video game developer Rockstar announces that it is bringing down the servers for GTA Online tonight at 9 PM Eastern Standard time in order to perform maintenance on the mode and believes that the entire network will be back up in less than 24 hours.

The official announcement on the title’s site states, “Grand Theft Auto Online will be down for maintenance beginning tonight at 9PM Eastern Time through tomorrow, Thursday January 16th. We expect to be back up within 24 hours. Apologies for the inconvenience.”

The company is not offering any more information on the reasons for the downtime and is not saying whether those who are already logged into GTA Online will be able to continue playing.

The Online mode for GTA V has proven pretty popular despite the fact that it was affected by bugs when it launched.

Rockstar has promised more content and events for it in the coming months.
