The development team at Rockstar working on Grand Theft Auto Online announces that it is officially delaying the Heists feature for the video game, which was originally set to be launched before the end of spring, in order to make sure that it is delivering an experience that all fans of the title will enjoy when it is finally available.

The company states, in the comments of the new I Am Not a Hipster update, that, "We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated."

Heists are designed to be complex operations that allow gamers to create a team using their friends and then execute well prepared attacks against high value targets which can deliver plenty of rewards but also involve much risk.

The situations are based on those that fans of the series have already experienced in the GTA V single player campaign but there are some new twists and challenges to overcome.

Rockstar adds, "We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support."

The I Am Not a Hipster update delivers plenty of new content to GTA Online but many fans will be disappointed that they are unable to also experience heists at the moment.

GTA Online is set to receive long term support from Rockstar and the company has said that all the content will be offered for free and will include both new events to try out and the tools that the community requires in order to create its own new challenges.

The original GTA V will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft at some point before the end of the year and the development team has promised better particle effects, improved draw distance and a richer game world to explore.

Fans are also speculating that Rockstar Games is at the moment working on at least one major expansion for the open world title which will likely be announced soon and might be delivered in early 2015 on all platforms.
