Xbox Live to host GTA IV deathmatches

Actually it would be a red hot mode, since every gamer out there would like to battle it out in New York while playing the latest GTA IV title. Turns out that Rockstar's upcoming hit will feature at least 16 players enjoying a multiplayer session at the same time. Also, you might be interested to find out that it's not going to be the average deathmatch world, since the game's based on free roaming open world.

This universe is available right from the get-go, so there's no limitation of the areas you can explore. These are only rumors for now, but I can sense an Xbox 360 lag coming and even some server failures, when that GTA fanbase starts playing the game. It may be even more popular than Halo 3, that played by more than a third of the Xbox Live subscribers right now. If there's any title that Bungie should fear, when it comes to huge sales, it must be GTA IV.

However, due to the delay of Rockstar's upcoming blockbuster, we still have the time to enjoy Halo 3 and the late October releases, like NFS: ProStreet or Hellgate London. GTA IV multiplayer on the Xbox 360 makes sense, but it might actually be a surprise on the PS3 since the console isn't quite the ideal device for multiplayer titles. Maybe the whole multiplayer thing is the main reason for delaying GTA IV... If that's the case, I'll do with a single player Grand Theft Auto next-gen title and patiently wait for an upgraded version.

In the meantime, can I have that impossible GTA IV demo? Oh can I Rockstar? I know that the producers always mention that this is a free roaming game and there's no mission to include in a demo, but I'd really like to give the title a spin. How about a beta? How about no multiplayer? How about a surprise launch?
