Rockstar has patched the game but more will follow, probably

The problem that's driving everybody mad and the Grand Theft Auto IV developers older by the hour (probably) - the freezing of Grand Theft Auto IV - was supposed to be fixed with the latest PS3 patch released by Rockstar yesterday. However, it seems that nothing like that happened - many players were still complaining about their GTA IV freezing and didn't really understand what that 1.01 really meant.

Well, it seems that Rockstar didn't really fix the problem, instead they have worked on preventing "Gamespy's servers from being overloaded and therefore reduces the impact on those servers that were causing the game to stutter and lock up. We continue to monitor the performance of the game both on and offline and will provide further updates as necessary. We want to assure everyone that, together with our hardware partners, we continue to strive to give our fans the best possible interactive entertainment experiences possible. This update will ensure that everyone will experience Grand Theft Auto IV the way it was intended. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused," an official press statement reads.

So, following the recent reports regarding Grand Theft auto IV, it seems that the game has just destroyed another myth (following the long list of good records set during the first week on the market). We're obviously talking about the myth saying that consoles are safe, their games will never need patches and nothing could go wrong. But, to take out the good in this whole bad situation, it will probably be much better for the PS3 owners of GTA IV copies than the Xbox 360 ones since all the PlayStations have a HDD where all future patches will be installed (and there will definitely be more, since the freezing problem hasn't been fixed so far). Still, it's sad to see such a great title freezing and driving the fans crazy.
