Rockstar shares some tips on eliminating issues

Grand Theft Auto 5 is now available on the PC platform, and while the game seems to be running smoothly, the same can't be said about its mandatory Rockstar Social Club client that's been throwing out errors for users. Rockstar now has some solutions which should, in theory, help eliminate any problems.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was awaited by millions of PC owners for quite some time, as in the last few years the game has only appeared on consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360, in September of 2013, and on PS4 or Xbox One, in November of last year.

Starting yesterday, April 13, the game began rolling out through the Steam service and the Rockstar Social Club client to all those who bought the game. Unfortunately, while many have had no problems running the game, some weren't so lucky.

Rockstar Social Club errors are quite common

The main culprit seems to be the Rockstar Social Club client that's mandatory for all players of GTA 5 on PC. Apparently, the program has a few quirks, and those who already had a previous version of the client, for the likes of Max Payne 3, L.A. Noire, or GTA 4 on PC, are encountering even more issues.

Some errors display messages like "Social Club failed to initialize," "Social Club failed to load due to an incomplete installation. Please exit the game and re-install the latest version of the Social Club," or "A newer version of Social Club is required. The updater may have failed. Please exit the game and install the latest version of the Social Club."

For all these errors, Rockstar recommends on its support website to completely uninstall the Social Club, download the latest version1.1.5.6 from Softpedia and then reinstall it.

Besides this, make sure that you've completely exited GTA 5. To do so, check the Windows Task Manager and see if these processes are still running: GTA5.exe, PlayGTAV.exe or GTAVLauncher.exe. Afterwards, reinstall the Rockstar Social Club with administrator privileges. To do so, right-click on the executable file and choose "Run as Administrator."

If you are still having issues, try verifying the Steam cache of the game, if you have it from there, or try running the PlayGTAV.exe process from the installation folder as an administrator.
