The inevitable mods that will appear for Grand Theft Auto 5 on the PC platform once the actual game gets released next week must not interfere with the GTA Online multiplayer mode or impact the overall community. If such a thing happens, it's unclear what Rockstar will do against the offending mods.

Grand Theft Auto 5 launches next week on the PC platform, after having already appeared on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September of 2013, as well as on PS4 and Xbox One in November of last year. After many delays, the title is going to debut on April 14 and hype amongst PC users is reaching critical mass.

While the studio confirmed quite a lot of details about GTA 5 on PC, from its features to its graphical options and other such things, it hasn't talked at all about the inevitable mods that will be made by fans for it.

Grand Theft Auto 4 became a huge hit and saw all sorts of different modifications appear for it, which transformed the title into all types of experiences, while adding new character models, vehicles, and other such things.

Mods for GTA 5 on PC shouldn't interfere with GTA Online multiplayer

GTA 5 is expected to see the same support from PC modders, but Rockstar is quick to issue a warning, via GameSpot, to potential tinkerers who plan on making things for the game on PC.

More specifically, mods for GTA 5 on PC shouldn't interfere with the GTA Online multiplayer mode or the overall community. The studio doesn't go into details, and it's unclear what it will do to mods and users who violate this broad mandate.

"Since GTA Online has such a massive and vibrant community, our primary focus is making sure that nothing detracts from that experience or has a negative impact on the overall community of players," the studio says in regard to mods.

Expect to hear more about Rockstar's GTA 5 modding policy soon enough, especially once they start to appear for the game.
