Michael, Trevor, and Franklin are quite vulnerable

Grand Theft Auto 5 appeared last week and delighted millions of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners from around the world, breaking sales records and cementing the franchise's spot at the top of the gaming industry.

While the game features some great characters, in the form of Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, all three of them are quite vulnerable when engaged in the many firefights present in the actual game and in many of its missions.

GTA 5, like previous games, takes players through lots of different and quite violent missions that usually involve both cars and guns. As such, you can expect your character to be on the receiving end of quite a few bullets from your enemies that take a toll on your life bar and, if you purchased any armor, on that as well.

As a result, if you want to avoid the "Mission Failed" screen, you need to keep using cover and always be on the lookout of health kits, similar to how it worked in GTA 4. If your health goes past the 50% mark, you should stop what you're doing, retreat, and wait for it to regenerate until the halfway point.

When controlling either Michael or Trevor, remember to trigger their special abilities, as these can easily help in dispatching a large number of foes. Michael's skill involves a sort of bullet time, minus the whole Max Payne style jump, while Trevor's power puts him into Rampage mode by improving his damage output and decreasing the damage he receives from enemies.

Another tip to increase your chances of survival is to try and score headshots by locking onto enemies, through the auto-aim system, and then gently nudging the analog stick upward, so that you can eliminate the enemy in one hit, saving ammo in process.

Seeing as how there are no difficulty options in GTA 5, survival in the game boils down to being patient and using cover whenever possible, so try to remember that when struggling to keep Michael, Franklin, and Trevor alive for as long as possible.
